Dorian now allows you to attach audio files to steps in your game for a more immersive experience! This can be used for anything from sound effects to music to voiceovers— let your creativity run wild!

First, you need to be granted access to use Audio features! Sign up here (this form grants both video and audio access).

Use the Audio Library to Upload Your Files

Once you have access, you’ll see an Audio Library button on the left when you’re within a game. From here, you can upload audio files.

When uploading, make sure you upload an mp3 or wav file, and choose between Music or Effect - this will be used for categorizing the file within the game. If you want to use a file for both Music and Effect, upload it twice and select each type.

You can sample the audio once it’s uploaded, and re-download the newly optimized file.

On the main audio library page, you can see all your uploaded audio files. You can’t delete a file if it’s being used in a game.

Add your Audio to a Game

Once you’ve uploaded your audio files, add them to your game.

There will be a new music button on the left of all steps (besides Remember, Check, and Achieve steps.) The badge there will show you if there’s audio on that step already or not.

The “Audio Step Settings” popup will have one slot for sound effects and one slot for music. Music will have a looping option. The dropdown has two special settings: No Changes (default) and Stop Playing.

  • None/No changes means actively playing sound triggered by a previous step will not be stopped or interrupted

  • Stop playing will stop the actively playing sound

You can type into the text bars to filter the list of sound files. On the right side, there will be eye icons:

  • black eye icon: owned by the user & NOT currently shared.

  • green eye icon: currently shared (doesn’t matter who shared it)

Clicking on an eye will show you who shared it, as well as a share/unshare button for that file.

Audio in the Emulator

Audio playback is partially supported in the emulator.

  • Audio will play when progressing through an episode.

  • Stepping back will stop audio.

  • The external “Share emulator link” is not supported yet

  • There’s a known issue where sound doesn’t always play for the first step of the “intro” node
