After launch steps to succeed!

Once you’ve launched your pilot, your goal is to evaluate your performance and identify ways to improve any areas!

A successful pilot on Dorian has:

  • A cover and concept attractive enough that it attracts plenty of players

  • Has a completion rate of at least 60% on Episode 1, 80% on Episode 2, and 90% on Episode 3

  • Has high-value monetized choices (30+ hearts) that successfully monetize over 10% of players

How do you identify whether you are getting close to these goals?

Check your Reads & Completion Rates

As soon as you publish, you’ll see a new “Live Episodes” section on the engine where you can see the # of players and completion rate for each episode.

Playthrough Count

Playthrough is a good rough estimation of how appealing your game is to the Dorian audience. While featuring can create a spike in reads, games that have an appealing concept and cover shouldn’t struggle to get baseline reads on Dorian.

You need at least 100 people to start your game to obtain reliable data on your story performance, but you should aim for far more! Many games are already getting LOTS of reads a day, and you want to be one of them!

If you notice you are getting very few reads, this usually means you need to improve your cover. For guidance on how to improve your cover, look here.

Completion Rate

Check your Monetization Performance

💡 You can see your current earned hearts and pay-out details in your profile on the web engine!

Develop the relationship with your players to increase the % of paying customers!

Checking your monetization rate

You can check how many people have spent money by examining your premium choices in the “live episodes.” Launch the emulator on a choice node and set the performance to use “percentage.”

You’ll be able to see either the exact number or the % of people who spent money in your story. A strong premium choice will convert around 5% of users — but you should aim for over 10%, especially on high value romantic choices.

Make Adjustments

Based on performance data, make necessary adjustments to improve the game. This could include tweaking the plot, adding new premium scenes, or editing existing ones.

Plan Future Content

Use the insights gained to plan future content and updates. Keep your audience engaged with regular updates, new episodes, and interactive events.

By following these steps, you can create a successful and engaging dating sim on Dorian. Happy creating!

Completion Rate is a good rough estimation of how much players like your game after they start playing.

Wait until at least 100 people play your game to look at these numbers. ****

You can see your overall completion rate on the story level, or click into the episode to see how much you are losing on a per-scene or per-node basis.

You can see the drop-off on a node or on a single line of text. This will help you find what can be improved! For tips on how to improve your completion rate, check the guide here.
