Validate your idea
Dorian lets you test multiple concepts before investing in full production or expensive assets. Take advantage of that early flexibility.
Story validation
Hook: Write a one-line (≤ 8 words) tagline that shows your plot, stakes, and romantic core.
Niche: Identify your audience (e.g., #vampireromance, #slasherfans) and confirm demand on BookTok/TikTok.
Plot: In 1–2 sentences, explain the MC’s problem and how romance drives the resolution.
⚠️ If your hook and plot aren’t clear and concise, your concept may not test well.
Art Validation
Character Sprites: 2810×4000 px PNGs (knees-up). Express personality; avoid stiff or overly sexual poses. Aim for Gen Z appeal and a diverse cast of at least 3 love interests.
Cover Art: 2810×4000 px PNG with 2–3 characters interacting. Keep faces centered and emotions strong.
⚠️ Use sketches or multiple mock-ups to test covers; polished renders aren’t needed for validation.
From Concept to Pilot
Do you have a hook and three love interests? Perfect! Let’s make your first episode.
Story & Structure
Hook: Craft a one-sentence premise that sells the fantasy (“Romance slasher villains to save your life.”)
Love Interests: Introduce at least three distinct, iconic characters that players can immediately recognize and want to romance.
Main Character: Keep your MC as a transparent self-insert. Players should project themselves into the story.
Length: Aim for 3K–5K words or under 7 minutes of playtime per episode.
Tone: Lead with dialogue; limit narration so interactions drive the pace.
Gameplay & Pacing
Include a choice every 10–15 taps to keep players engaged.
Within 30 taps, establish a short-term goal or conflict.
By tap 50, introduce at least one Love Interest.
Around the midpoint, reveal your first premium choice and affection system.
Use 1–2 premium choices in Episode 1, expanding to 3–5 in later episodes.
Always end with a memorable cliffhanger that teases what’s next.
Fan Retention & Promotion
End with a call-to-action: invite fans to bookmark, follow, and come back for your next release.
Consistent pacing, clear romance stakes, and a strong emotional hook make your pilot stand out for in-app promotion.
⚠️ A pilot isn’t just Episode 1, it’s your trailer in playable form. Make it count by following these guidelines.
